More Microsoft Word, more WiFi at Tisch this semester

Remember the frustration of arriving at the library to find that all four computers equipped with Microsoft Word were in use? This summer, administrators poured the tonic. Each desktop computer in the Tisch Library’s reference area now has Microsoft Office, meaning students can use applications like Word and Excel. The library also tripled the number of WiFi access points on its premises, a move meant to alleviate last semester’s frequent blips in wireless access, Tisch Library Director Jo-Ann Michalak told us during an interview earlier this week. In the past, Tisch had approximately eight to ten access points, an amount that she said did not provide adequate service during high-use times. Now the library has 35.
