The Decemberists and The Ride chosen to play Spring Fling

At tonight's Battle of the Bands, Tufts Concert Board announced that The Decemberists will be Spring Fling 2009's rock act. The Decemberists hail from Portland, Oregon and are known for their indie style, often using eclectic instruments and telling stories through their songs.
The Battle of the Bands also decided which student band will perform at Spring Fling. The Ride was chosen as the competition's winner, beating out four other student bands to play at the concert.

WMFO Top 5 1. Bang Camaro II by Bang Camaro. This Boston-area arena rock band has attempted to capture everything that made ‘70s and ‘80s hair metal good; epic guitar solos, and catchy hooks sung by ridiculous lead singers – in this case, anywhere from 10 to 20 ridiculous lead singers. Punk Rock for Puppies Photos

Notice we missed something a couple of weeks ago? Punk Rock for Puppies, a concert featuring four bands, took place at Oxfam Cafe on February 27th. All profits raised by the event benefited the Animal Rescue League of Boston. The event was sponsored by Theta Psi, Oxfam Cafe, the Tufts Pre-Veterenary Society, and Tufts Health Services. We didn't get to cover the event, but the following are a few pictures Daily photographers caputred during the concert.
