Make a statement with Fiona Paxton

3/30/09 2:37 PM

Fiona Paxton's line of necklace-scarf hybrids presents an exciting new way to accessorize. Each hand-beaded piece features a unique mixture of Indian embroidery and London street culture, not to mention the obvious throwback to 1920s flapper attire. Although necklaces run a bit on the pricey side (between $250 and $300), they are well worth the cost. These pieces can be worn with practically anything- from jeans and a t-shirt to formal evening wear. Already a celebrity favorite (see Drew Barrymore below), Fiona Paxton's necklaces are bound to pick up a large mainstream following. I know that I will be striving to grab one of these ASAP!         -Nikki Siegel  ...

How the maxi dress can help max out your look

3/5/09 4:22 PM

Although it's hard to believe that spring is approaching any time soon, retailers have already started piling on the spring looks. The plus side to the early spring season is that we get to anticipate spring before its arrival by buying exciting new spring clothes! For example, the maxi dress. Because I was too scared that the maxi dress would make me look short, I missed the trend last summer and was afraid that my window of opportunity for long, flowing dresses had passed. Fortunately for me, however, the maxi dress is back and kicking for this spring and summer! As soon as I saw the dresses coming in for the season I decided to overcome my fear and purchase one. Contrary to what I had previously thought, the floor-length look of the dress actually elongated my body and made me look... 4 comments

Boyfriend Jeans for Less

2/25/09 6:07 PM

So, I'll admit I was more than a little skeptical about the new boyfriend jean trend (partially because it was introduced by Katie Holmes). After looking at new trends for the spring, however, the baggy, distressed look has grown on me. It's grown, yes, but not enough for me to drop serious cash on a pair. Take, for example, this pair of Madewell jeans (shown below) that go for $200 a pair.   Cute, yes, but is a pair of ruined jeans worth that much? I think not. My solution? These great American Eagle Boy Fit Jeans (picture below). They may not be premium denim quality, but they're ripped anyway, so who cares? So, if you're loving the baggy look without the baggy price, run out and grab a pair of these!   -Nikki Siegel... 4 comments

For the Love of Frye Boots

2/18/09 12:06 PM

Despite being up to my knees in boots I have fallen completely head over heels in love with these new Frye "Carson" cowboy boots. After my first encounter with the boots online I knew that I had to see them in person. Yes, I stalked a pair of shoes. Consensus? They're absolutely amazing! The leather is so smooth and buttery that I sat in the store touching them for a few minutes (until I realized that I was just making the fact that I couldn't own them more painful). The burnt red color, albeit absolutely impractical, is so beautiful. There's also a really delicious jade color and some other less flashy options. I love these boots as a statement piece, but also as go-to shoes on a "jeans and T-shirt" type day. If you have $352 to drop on a pair of boots, please buy... 5 comments

Shop with a conscience at Payless

11/12/08 1:49 AM

When I read that Payless Shoe Source is donating $1,000,000 worth of shoes to children in need for the holiday season, I was ecstatic. Especially with the state of the current economy, I think it’s great that this company is embarking on such a large philanthropic project. No doubt part of the reason they’re doing this is for the positive PR, so I’m going to help that along and highlight some great deals available at Payless right now, online or in store. I recently made my first Payless purchase – a pair of white, Ked-like sneakers that only cost me $7.50 during the BOGO sale (don’t fret, they’re also available in black and cost a mere $14.99 at full price). I successfully dirtied them up at Zeta Psi’s white party this past weekend, and now... 0 comment
