Boyfriend Jeans for Less

So, I'll admit I was more than a little skeptical about the new boyfriend jean trend (partially because it was introduced by Katie Holmes). After looking at new trends for the spring, however, the baggy, distressed look has grown on me. It's grown, yes, but not enough for me to drop serious cash on a pair. Take, for example, this pair of Madewell jeans (shown below) that go for $200 a pair.

 

Cute, yes, but is a pair of ruined jeans worth that much? I think not. My solution? These great American Eagle Boy Fit Jeans (picture below). They may not be premium denim quality, but they're ripped anyway, so who cares? So, if you're loving the baggy look without the baggy price, run out and grab a pair of these!

Wow, this column is insanely behind trend and never on point. It also caters to no one except its writer. Honestly, if there is still someone who hasn't seen the million pictures of various celebrities wearing straight-leg jeans that are slouchy in the top block, then I venture to say they've probably just returned from exile in Siberia.
Perhaps Ms. Siegel should look to sources outside People Magazine for her fashion tips? Maybe, I don't know, actual designers? Where's Ghesquiere, Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens, Martin Margiela, Christopher Bailey...the people that are actually innovating?

OH RIGHT. This is Tufts. I guess American Eagle it is, then.

I know Madewell offers a 15% off Student discount so in fact, we could get these beautiful premium boyfriend jeans for less! Awesome, I would definitely pay that with my student discount!

OK, let's skip the fake jeans. It's easy enough to wear through clothes as is.

On that note, here's a tip for jeans so soft you could sleep in them: never wash them. They'll soften in the spots you use the most, like the knees and crotch, and take on the lovely odor of stables. That way your jeans actually respond and shape to your body, like a hug. A long, smelly crotch-hug.
