Agree with JJ.

His parents taught him well. At least he can apologize like a man. We all can make terrible mistakes. Second chance is not that hard to give. I would not 'label' him since he tries to fix things up.

No matter what counseling, programs, meetings, seminars he attends, this guy will forever hate asians. I would if I were him.

And honestly, as an Asian American myself, I felt inundated with Bias incident emails from 5 different mailing lists, hearing about it in Dewick, in tisch, In Houston and everywhere in between, including facebook messages from the event and group. I dare not say anything against that, lest I be labeled as a traitor to the Asian American cause. This event will be duly noted and buried far in the back of my head as I study for finals and the rest of my life unfolds...

I hope we can find it in our hearts to forgive him, and allow him to make amends. If we do not, then we risk showing that it might not be worth it to take reponsibility for our mistakes.

Let's show him that it IS worth it to take responsibility.

I'm glad he manned up and took responsibility. I hope he realizes that Asian Americans are just as American as the next guy. To all the nay-sayers who made Daniel look like the victim and demonized the Korean "instigators", choke on this.

I hope Daniel does not get expelled, but I do hope he is required to take ethnic studies/diversity programs and classes to help him better understand the issues that adversely impact the Asian American experience. In my eyes, he keeps his integrity. Good man.

Dude made a mistake. He's sorry. Don't suspend him, nor send him to the bowels of AA (we've all said a regrettable thing or two in our inebriation, more or less, no? Am I alone on this one?). Instead, the University should sponsor a raucous KSA dance party where the entire student body is required to attend, and everyone must, under strict supervision, do the cabbage patch, the oldschool Kid & Play dance, perhaps even the wop if the occasion calls for it -- who knows, the party might not even need it. Honesty, owning up to his actions, and genuine remorse? Check. Forgiveness? Get on that. Massive dance parties? That too.

How poetic. He repeated his first sentence to close in cyclical fashion. He's a regular Robert Frost.
