Virtually legal: User-generated Internet can get students in trouble

Forget fingerprints or security cameras - university administrators can now find out "whodunit" on the Internet, with Web sites like Facebook.com and Youtube.com. Rights and regulations surrounding this new technology are relatively unclear, and as a result the use of networking Web sites as a law enforcement tool has been up for debate. (0) comments

Campus Cooking | This delicious Japanese soup is a simple choice for an excellent dish

For many, the phrase "Japanese food" instantly conjures up colorful rolls of nori-wrapped rice (maki-sushi) and pink slabs of impeccably prepared raw fish (sashimi). Indeed, sushi is the culinary prima donna of Japanese cuisine, at least in the Western imagination. Ingredients: *1/2 lb. pork tenderloin *1/2 medium daikon radish* *4 shiitake mushrooms* *1 block silken tofu* *2 1/2 cups dashi stock *4 tablespoons miso *1/4 cup chopped scallions *1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds* *Note: You can get all these fancy-sounding ingredients in Chinatown for incredibly low prices. Directions: 1) Cut the pork into 1-inch cubes. 2) Peel the daikon radish and slice into thin semi-circle disks. 3) If the shiitake mushrooms are of the dried sort, soak them until they are soft. Chop them into strips. 4) Heat oil in a pot and sauté the pork until almost browned, but not quite. Add the mushrooms and radish and stir fry for another minute or so. 5) Add the dashi stock into the pot along with the tofu cubes. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 15 minutes. 6) Put miso in a small bowl and dissolve in a few tablespoons of hot dashi stock, as in the previous recipe. Add this miso mix gradually to the pot, tasting as you go. Miso is very salty, so adjust according to personal preference. 7) Before serving, sprinkle scallions and sesame seeds on top as garnish.
