The Tufts Drama Departments first production of the semester, Welcome to Arroyos, is debuting tonight in the Balch Arena Theater. Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass.) is getting comfortable in Congress after winning the special election on June 25 to fill now Secretary of State John Kerry's vacated seat. Markey gave his first speech on the floor of the Senate this Wednesday, making promises to improve legislation on clean energy, Internet privacy and gun control, according to an article published in the Boston Herald on Wednesday.

The special election to fill John Kerrys now-vacant Senate seat in Massachusetts is fast approaching and Tufts Democrats is mobilizing. The group, which enthusiastically campaigned in November for current Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and President Barack Obama, has revived the campaign for Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.).

Members of the Tufts community gathered on the Mayer Campus Center's lower patio Monday to celebrate Black Solidarity Day with a rally organized by the Pan?African Alliance. The event brought together black Tufts students, their advocates and interested passers?by, as well as guest speakers like famed blogger, poet, scholar and author Brandon Lacy Campos.

Though elections to the Senate will not take place until November, campaigning has long been underway. With this in mind, a number of Tufts groups are getting involved with campaigns and debates. More educational and collaborative than competitive, these groups are primarily interested in raising political awareness.

Excuse the title of "Martha Marcy May Marlene." It is confusing, longwinded and conjures images of haughty avant−garde cinema at its worst. A film's title is supposed to lure in the viewer — it is a brand name — and "Martha Marcy May Marlene" reads like a list of grandmothers. So roll your eyes and shake your head, but then get over it quickly, because if you can look past the title, you will be rewarded with one of the best films of the year.

Journalist and author Bob Woodward will give this semester's Richard E. Snyder's Presidential Lecture today in Cohen Auditorium. Woodward began his career as a journalist for The Washington Post in the early 1970s, where he gained acclaim for his coverage, alongside fellow journalist Carl Bernstein, of the Watergate scandal.
