While internet social networks might seem to be multiplying by the minute, according to the Social Monkey team, the site includes added perks not previously available on other sites.
"The Blog has a aspects that Facebook's Wall doesn't include," Maloney said. "I can take a picture of you on my phone one night dancing on a bar, and I can send it to the site, and post in on your Blog and write 'look what you were doing last night'," he said.
"That's pretty cool," he went on. "Think about how many times you're out and you think of something funny to post on someone's [Facebook] Wall, now you can do it through your phone so you can do it anywhere."
"Or if you're bored in class you can send a message to someone's Blog. No matter where you are you can keep a photo journal of what you've done and where you've been," Karp added.
There's also the ability to check friend's AOL Instant Messenger away messages by typing the command "away" and then the person's name.
"There are a lot of things that might not be that useful, but are a lot of fun if you're bored in class or just hanging out," Karp said.
A functional addition to the site, however, is the "circles" command, which allows users to create groups for their roommates, coworkers, and friends.
"Circles help you to organize your friends. For example, the "All" command sends a message to everyone in a certain circle," Maloney added. "If you have a group of 10 girl friends or something, and you want to tell them all something, you can create a circle for them."
"I think there's a lot more potential to use this service because it's done with your phone. There's a lot more time when you have a bored minute when you're out with your phone than at your computer," Maloney added.
