Letter to the editor

To the Editor,

This year undergraduate students at Tufts University are having the 2nd Annual Emerging Black Leaders Symposium (EBLS). It promises to foster an intelligible dialogue about the success and mistreatment of the black community. Our hope is to create an ongoing relationship with EBLS, Tufts University and the greater community. The symposium will include three panel discussions and a keynote address by Congressman Harold Ford Jr. (D-Tenn). The panels will be focused around three major topics pertaining to the black community - the black family, politics, and arts and media.

This year's theme is Respect, Remembrance and Responsibility. By focusing on Respect, Remembrance and Responsibility, we, the Emerging Black Leaders, set the stage for Emerging Leaders in society to come together for a symposium that can help us become better human beings. This symposium will not only be informative and positive, it will move audience members to action. This symposium is open to people of all backgrounds and cultures. Our aim is to provide a better understanding of what we all must do to improve not just black society but society as a whole.
