Two attempted headlight thefts in same week
Two cars parked on the Tufts campus were vandalized last week.
On Apr. 14, a student parked his Audi in the parking lot outside of Cousens Gym at 7 p.m. Sometime before 2:30 p.m. the next day, he told police, someone unsuccessfully tried to remove one of his headlights. The estimated value of damage was $1,000.
Additionally, some time between Apr. 13 and Apr. 18, another Audi, this time parked in the parking lot outside of Carmichael Hall, was vandalized.
"Evidently they tried to steal the headlight on this too," Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) Sergeant Robert McCarthy said. "They couldn't get it out for whatever reason."
Suspicious car lurker seen in January still hanging around
Last week, two female students who live off-campus reported to TUPD that a suspicious person, sitting in his parked car, was seen near their residence.
Although the women recently reported it for the first time, they told TUPD they had been seeing the man since January.
"They kept seeing him, [but] he really hasn't done anything," McCarthy said. "They felt kind of nervous seeing him there."
Both TUPD and the Medford Police Department responded to the report, but the man was already gone when officers arrived.
If the man appears again and the residents alerted the police, officers said, police would confront him at that time.
TUPD officer treated to public urination spectacle
At 1:04 a.m. on April 14, an officer witnessed a Tufts student urinating in front of Houston Hall.
When the student saw the officer, he proceeded into Miller Hall, where he lives. The officer followed him into the dormitory and tracked him down.
"Everything's been turned over to the [Dean of Students'] office," McCarthy said in regards to the case.
