Ex-Senators become Trustee representatives

The new student representatives to the Board of Trustees were chosen by the TCU Senate last night.

Kayt Norris became the representative for the Academic Affairs Committee, Robert Kim became the representative for the Administration and Finance Committee, and Jessica Feinberg became the representative for the University Advancement Committee.

The senate deliberated on the election, which involved ten candidates, for over four hours, sophomore senate historian Neil DiBiase said.

"It was very close," he said.

Feinberg, a senator in her freshman and sophomore years, is excited to be a liaison between the TCU senate and the trustees.

"People are very passionate here," she said. "I think that I'll be able to effectively communicate [to the trustees] what I think the quintessential Tufts student is."

Two senators, Kim and Denise Lyn-Shue, who ran for TCU President last spring, resigned so they could run for one of the trustee representative positions. Dibiase said the resignations are typical procedure for senior senators who want to become trustee representatives. Although Lyn-Shue is no longer a senator, she plans to stay involved on some level.

"I can still do anything that I did last year," she said. "I guess the responsibility is just not required now."

"As a senior this is the next step in getting things done," Feinberg said.

"You'll be hearing more from them when the trustee weekend comes up," DiBiase said.
