The softball team's three-game set against NESCAC East rival Bowdoin, scheduled for this weekend, was postponed due to poor playing conditions at Spicer Field. No makeup date has been announced.
The teams were supposed to take the field Friday afternoon, but steady rainfall in the Boston area pushed the start of the series to Saturday. However, temperatures dipped below 30 degrees Friday night, causing Spicer Field to freeze and making conditions unplayable for the remainder of the weekend.
The series was slated to mark the start of NESCAC East play for both squads. The Jumbos were looking to rebound from a mediocre spring break trip to California, in which they went 7-5 overall but 0-2 against NESCAC West foes Williams and Wesleyan. The Polar Bears would have been a prime candidate for a bounce-back effort, as Tufts hasn't lost to Bowdoin since April 9, 2004.
Weather also forced the postponement of a three-game series between division rivals Amherst and Middlebury this weekend.
The Jumbos will next host a doubleheader against non-conference Bridgewater StateThursday afternoon.
