In an email sent to Tufts community members on Sunday evening, University President Sunil Kumar and four other university leaders addressed the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” for the first time since student protesters erected it on April 7, requesting that the tents be taken down to allow the university to prepare for Commencement. Shortly after, Tufts Students for Justice for Palestine reaffirmed in an Instagram post that they will not leave the Academic Quad until the university divests from Israel, ends the sale of Sabra and other Israeli products at Tufts dining locations, “[acknowledges] the genocide in Gaza” and “[apologizes] for previous statements.”

The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts saw negotiation between SMFA’s part-time lecturers and the university this past fall. The Professors of the Practice, SMFA’s full-time faculty, are now beginning bargaining sessions for a set of contract improvements through posters and a banner draped on Bessie, the rhinoceros mascot of SMFA.

I want to write this piece to express my disappointment in the regressive state of laws regarding women in the U.S. Three weeks ago, on April 9, the Arizona Supreme Court reinstated a Civil War-era near-total abortion ban that makes the procedure illegal except when the mother’s life is in danger.

Summer in Qatar is unbearable; most days reach a high of at least 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The air feels void of vapor, the land is arid and cracked, but most of all, the heat from the sun is unforgiving. Every summer, I remember accompanying my mom to the nearest auto repair shop to replace our leather car seats, which melted from the scorching heat of the metallic seatbelts. It was quite an inconvenient endeavor. When the temperature is high enough to irritate your skin, there isn’t much to do during the day, unless your idea of fun is visiting the same handful of indoor malls the country has to offer.

It is not common for two ballets to be combined in one program. The Boston Ballet, though, does not shy away from the unconventional. For their spring performance of Carmen, the company includes both Carmen and Kingdom of the Shades in their 100-minute show, broken up by an intermission. Audience members get to experience the delicately controlled choreography of Kingdom of the Shades and the passionate drama of Carmen during their time at the Citizens Bank Opera House.

With it being late April, it’s time for schools to start rebuilding their rosters and preparing for the next season. Teams like the University of Louisville and the University of Southern California already have full rotations of transfers coming in. The portal is still very active, but as teams stand right now, these are my current 2024 preseason rankings.

On Wednesday, thousands of audience members filed into the Boch Center in Boston to see the touring production of “Hadestown.” While some were longtime fans of the show and others were seeing it for the first time, everyone shared the powerful experience of seeing Anaïs Mitchell’s breathtaking musical come to life onstage.

Annie Erin Clark, who goes by the stage name St. Vincent, has returned on her seventh studio album “All Born Screaming,” released on Friday. The album has already received much critical praise for its heavier, moodier rock instrumentation — a departure from the dreamier motifs of the artist’s most recent LP “Daddy’s Home” (2021). “All Born Screaming” is more reminiscent of “MASSEDUCTION” (2017), but is a new direction for St. Vincent.
