Multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in an ongoing investigation surrounding bomb threats and a suspected arson that occurred outside of Health Service in the early morning hours of Monday, May 9. The investigation is being carried out by a joint law enforcement team made up of the state Fire Marshal, Somerville Police, Medford Police, Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) and the Massachusetts State Police.

The scheduling of today's final exams was disrupted following a fire in a vehicle outside of Tufts Health Service around 4:30 a.m. this morning, and the discovery at the building entrance of a note with bomb threats to four different campus locations. As law enforcement secured, evacuated and cleared the four targeted buildings — Cabot Intercultural Center, Braker Hall, Cohen Auditorium and Tisch Library — exams of three math courses and classes taught in the G and E blocks in the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering (AS&E) were postponed and rescheduled to Friday.

On an early foggy Saturday morning, 68 members of Tufts Democrats departed in groups to attend the 2015 Democratic Party State Conventionheld in Manchester, N.H.Over 4,000 people from the surrounding states and the Democratic Party gathered in the Verizon Wireless Arena to hear from various Democratic Party officers and six Presidential candidates, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

Since 2008, female Tufts students have worked with the national non-profit organization Strong Women, Strong Girls (SWSG) to help girls in the surrounding Somerville and Medford areas. The chapter has attempted to encourage female empowerment and promote service work by mentoring local young women.

Each spring, members of the Tufts community eagerly await the announcement of the commencement speaker and Honorary Degree recipients - major selections that have come to reflect the university's culture and values. Since 1858, Tufts has sought to honor recipients who represent the ideals and beliefs of the school, and has also encouraged the community to voice its opinions throughout the selection process.

While poets of the page may publish their writing in the Canon, Tufts' literary magazine, spoken word poets work outside and beyond the written word. Many write, practice and compete within the Spoken Word Alliance at Tufts (SWAT).

This January, the shooting of 12 people at the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo shocked the world, and brought the topics of free speech and religious sensitivity to the fore. The violence sparked discussions across campus, where free speech has been a major topic of debate, and where both students and the administration have actively sought to build a campus that embraces differences of ideas, understanding, and active engagement.

A Tufts research team, working with more than eight community partners, has found a relationship between air pollutants emanating from highways and cardiovascular health in surrounding communities, and has also explored ways to mitigate exposure at the levels of policy and practice.

In November of 1969, outraged that a company with discriminatory hiring policies was contracted to build a new dorm (now Lewis Hall), Tufts students organized demonstrations at the construction site, demanding equal employment opportunity for minority construction workers. This Nov. 5 marked the 45th anniversary of the protest.

"Sesame Street" (1969 - present) saw sunny days this weekend, giving Elmo, Ernie and Bert reason to be proud. The prolific children's show received an Award for Excellence in Children's Media from the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development and the Communication and Media Studies (CMS) program. The award was given for the show's positive educational impact on the lives of children and their families, and celebrated Eliot-Pearson's 50th anniversary as a department.

Moe's BBQ Truck, which sits at the intersection of Professor's Row and Packard Ave. on weekend nights, has been well-known on campus for some time now. Recently, though, more and more local food trucks based in and around Somerville are finding a home around Tufts' campus.
