Tisch Summer Fellows provides opportunities for students in public, non-profit sectors
The positive experiences of Fleming and Weinstein highlight the void that TSF has filled for students who struggle to find summer opportunities that provide both relevant experience and funds to cover the cost of living. As the program continues to grow and evolve, it seems that more students of different backgrounds and interests will be able to reap their benefits.

Tufts alumni promote science literacy through 'Breaking Science' lectures
The world of science may often feel inscrutable for people who are not practicing scientists or engineers, or who have access to few scientific resources. Tufts alumnus Jim Sampson (LA '09, SK '15) launched the "Breaking Science" public lecture series in 2016 with the goal of breaking down those very barriers to understanding science, research and technology for the masses.
Senior Profile: Megan Tse immerses in research, supports fellow women engineers
Graduating senior Megan Tse refers to the factors that helped her decide on Tufts as “a series of random events.” She came to Jumbo Days as a prospective student and felt that she could see herself among the students walking around on campus. She was also very intrigued by the research going on at the school — something she hadn’t done before college. But what really sold her on the school was when she came to a Women in Engineering open house.
New summer programs provide more research opportunities for undergraduates
Tufts prides itself on being a distinguished research university, providing students with opportunities to apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world. This year, in addition to the already established university-wide Summer Scholars program, a few new programs have been created to further this tradition. These programs are the Visiting and Early Research Scholar Experience (VERSE) Program, Global Research Assistant Program (GRAP) and the Laidlaw Undergraduate Research and Leadership Program.
Inside-Out brings classroom discussion to state prison
As part of the Tufts University Prison Initiative at Tisch College (TUPIT), Founding Director Hilary Binda leaves campus early in the morning every Wednesday along with 10 students from the Tufts campus to join their additional 10 classmates at the Massachusetts Correctional Institution — Shirley, a medium-security state prison. She teaches the course “Mass Incarceration & Literature of Confinement.” Every Wednesday, the students meet in the computer lab within Shirley’s educational building. The weekly class, part of a three-year pilot, is an Inside-Out course, meaning half of the students are Tufts students and half are prisoners.
History on the Hill: The MacPhie Pub
The MacPhie Pub, whose former home has since been combined with the Dewick building to form the Dewick-MacPhie Dining Center, was once a lively on-campus spot for students to hang out with friends, watch live entertainment and drink alcohol legally.
New Fletcher publication Econofact aims to reintroduce facts in economic analysis
This past election cycle has put the integrity and veracity of journalism in the spotlight, with rhetoric about “alternative facts” abounding. In response, the Edward R. Murrow Center for a Digital World at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy announced the advent of Econofact in January. The website, directed by William L. Clayton Professor of International Economic Affairs Michael Klein and Murrow Center Director Edward Schumacher-Matos, is an online economic publication aiming to combat "alternative facts" with reliable, evidence-based analysis.

Former Resident Assistants discuss benefits, flaws in ResLife-RA relationship
A first-year student's Resident Assistant (RA) might be one of the first members of the Tufts community they meet when they arrive on campus. Assigned to a particular dorm and floor, RAs organize and facilitate community-wide activities and programs while also ensuring the safety of their residents, according to the Office of Residential Life and Learning (ResLife) website.
