The Major League Soccer (MLS) playoffsbegan on Nov. 21. The first game of the playoffs featured Orlando City SC and New York City FC (NYCFC). Orlando took the lead in the fifth minute withNani’s penalty kick, but central defender Maxime Chanotheadered in a goal to level the game for NYCFC during the eighth minute. In the 87th minute of the game, Ruan received a red card for a hostile challenge on an NYCFC player. The rest of the game went back and forth with both teams taking many shots on the goal. Nonetheless, the match finished 1–1 after 90 minutes.

Tufts has asked all students in on-campus housing to pack up their belongings before departing for winter break, in the event that the COVID-19 pandemic worsens and the university is forced to cancel the in-person spring semester, according to Director of Residential Life and Learning Josh Hartman. If this occurs, Tufts will either move, store or ship students’ belongings to them.

The Election Protection Behind Bars Coalition wrote a letter to Middlesex Sheriff Peter Koutoujian on Oct. 9, asking him to take further steps to protect the right of eligible incarcerated voters to cast their ballots in the upcoming election, and to provide guidelines for sheriffs statewide.

Most study abroad programs have been canceled for spring 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with the exception of the Tufts-in-Oxford and Tufts@BNU programs. The Tufts-in-Madrid program, which the Tufts Global Education office took more time to consider, was officially canceled on Friday.

My father wasarrested for the first time in April 2013 for his work as a civil rights activist. Along with activist Xu Zhiyong, he led the New Citizens’ Movement (now China Citizens Movement), which aims to peacefully promote democracy and constitutionalism in China. To attain this goal, they helped like-minded individuals run as independent candidates in local people’s congressional elections and launched specific campaigns, such as calling for government officials to disclose their personal finances, insisting on the rights of property owners and demanding for equality in education.

Tufts announced on Thursday afternoon its decision to file an amicus brief supporting the lawsuit by Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) opposing the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency's announcement that international students will have their visas revoked if they are taking exclusively online courses in the fall.
