It wasn’t a pretty game, but at the final horn, the No. 1 Tufts men’s lacrosse team continued their undefeated season on Saturday with a 22–12 Senior Day win over Hamilton. With the win, Tufts improved to 14–0 overall and 9–0 in the NESCAC, maintaining their No. 1 ranking nationally. Then, the Jumbos made history on Wednesday when they defeated the No. 7 Bowdoin Polar Bears 19–15, finishing the regular season undefeated.

No. 2 Tufts men’s lacrosse took down yet another ranked opponent in No. 7 Middlebury on Saturday. With both teams coming into this highly anticipated matchup with perfect records, it was the Jumbos who continued their perfect start to the season, improving to 9–0 with a 19–15 win over the visiting Panthers.

Tufts men’s lacrosse enters every season with the expectation of success, and the start to this one has been no different. In a four-day stretch that has seen the No. 2 Jumbos face two nationally ranked opponents, Tufts showed grit and poise, allowing them to continue their undefeated start to the 2023 season.

In what might be the most exciting game of the season so far, Tufts traveled to nationally ranked Middlebury College for the second time with one thing on its mind: revenge. With the 72–56 January loss to the Panthers still fresh in their minds, the Jumbos came out and played one of their best games of the season, getting their revenge on the Panthers with a gritty 89–80 double-overtime win in the first round of the NESCAC playoffs.

Looking to rebound from a Jan. 28 loss to Middlebury College, Tufts headed into this past weekend looking to improve their chances of hosting a NESCAC tournament game at home. Tasked with defeating two tough teams, Tufts walked away from the weekend 2–0, with a 63–54 win over Colby and a 74–68 win against Bowdoin on Senior Day.

Despite fighting until the very last minute, the Tufts men’s basketball team fell to NESCAC rival Bates College in a hard-fought away game 67–63. The defeat drops the Jumbos to 13–4 on the season and a 2–2 record in NESCAC play while Bates improves to 7–10 overall and 1–3 in the NESCAC.

It may be hard to believe that the Class of 2022 is enjoying its last weeks as Tufts students. Such a time is due for reminiscing on the memories made over these past four years in Medford. For senior basketball Captain Molly Ryan, her time at Tufts has forged long-lasting friendships and memories that will not be soon forgotten.

Tufts men’s tennis continued its hot start to the spring season. The No. 8 team picked up wins over NESCAC rivals Trinity College and Connecticut College to extend its win streak to seven and improve its overall record to 8–1 and 3–1 in the NESCAC.

The Tufts women’s basketball team’s run at the program’s fourth NESCAC title fell short on Saturday as the No. 2 seed Tufts fell to the No. 3 seed Amherst 73–59. Playing from behind for most of the game, the Jumbos fought valiantly but were unable to complete the comeback against the NESCAC’s top-ranked defense.

The Tufts women’s basketball team opened up NESCAC Championship play this past weekend with a hard-fought 58–55 quarterfinals win over Wesleyan. Seeded No. 2 in the NESCAC Championship, the Jumbos were awarded a first round bye and were matched up with the No. 7 seeded Cardinals as a result of Wesleyan’s 63–52 win over the No. 10 seed Hamilton two days prior in the first round of the conference tournament. In a game in which neither team led by more than six points, the Jumbos used a combination of strong defense and offensive intensity to grind out the win.

Over the weekend, the Tufts women’s basketball team completed regular season play with two hard-fought wins at Middlebury and Williams. The Jumbos finished the season with an overall record of 19–3 and a NESCAC record of 8–2. Tufts defeated Middlebury 77–71 and Williams 69–64, both in very close and exciting contests.

The No. 7 ranked Tufts women’s basketball team emerged from this past weekend’s games undefeated, extending its current win streak to five games, and its overall record to 16–2. The Jumbos picked up wins at home against Bowdoin, Colby and Smith College. Displaying a new level of cohesion, the Jumbos played unselfish basketball and followed their recipe for success.

As the final buzzer sounded in Tufts women's basketball's matchup against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Corsairs on Dec. 4, the Jumbos came out on top with a resounding 76–59 win over the hosts to improve to 5–1 on the season. In a game defined by lots of back-and-forth action, the Jumbos used a huge fourth quarter to pull away and come out with the win.

The Tufts volleyball team's regular season came to a positive end with back-to-back wins against Bates and Colby this past weekend. The wins improved their record to 17–4 overall and 8–2 in NESCAC play.

Coming off a tough loss to NESCAC rival Williams, Tufts volleyball bounced back in strong fashion, winning three consecutive games over the weekend to improve its record to 13–4 overall and 4–2 in NESCAC competition. The wins included victories over the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a non-conference opponent, Trinity University (Texas), the nation's No. 3-ranked team, and Trinity College (Conn.), a NESCAC rival. Head coach Cora Thompson spoke about the benefits of playing a variety of non-conference teams.

Tufts men’s soccer faced its first double overtime of the season, ending the 110 minutes of play in a 1–1 draw at Colby on Saturday, moving the Jumbos’ record to 5–0–1 on the season. A strong defensive game from both teams, Tufts fought back from a Colby goal late in the first half to tie it with four minutes left in regulation. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net throughout both periods of overtime.

Riding on the heels of a season-opening win against Roger Williams, Tufts Volleyball continued its strong start to the season, sweeping the Tufts Invitational over the weekend. The Jumbos won games against the visiting Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks, the Brandeis University Judges and the Wellesley College Blue. Head coach Cora Thompson expressed her excitement to have the team be back with fans in Cousens Gymnasium in an email to the Daily.

As we enter the final month of the NBA’s regular season, the fourth through 10th seeds of the Eastern Conference remain in flux while the league’s elites have established themselves as the teams to beat in this year’s playoffs. However, injuries to key contributors on contenders threaten playoff and championship hopes for many teams, the new play-in tournament has fallen under scrutiny and one team is soon to be under new ownership.
