Graphic novel 'The Losers' to be transferred to the big screen

With the box-office success of films like "Spider-Man" (2002), "Batman Begins" (2005), "The Dark Knight" (2008) and "Iron Man" (2008), the latest film based on a graphic novel, "The Losers" (2010), is sticking it to the man and proving you don't have to be a superhero to save the day. The Tufts Daily got the chance to catch up with actors Chris Evans and Columbus Short to talk about bringing back good old-fashioned "mama" jokes on set and what makes "The Losers" stand out from the crowd in this comic-book film trend.

Zach Drucker and Chris Poldoian | Bad Samaritans

This past weekend, we saw what very well may be the best comic book adaptation ever: "Kick−Ass" (2010). From the intense action sequences to the witty dialogue to the sharp commentary on comic books, the film really did kick ass. We feel it is our responsibility to recommend this film to our readers ... unless you are easily offended.

Men's Tennis | National power Ephs overwhelm Jumbos

Last Tuesday, the men's tennis team faced Wesleyan University with the opportunity to build its first NESCAC winning streak of the season, and the Jumbos delivered with an 8−1 victory. Unfortunately for Tufts, its brief two−game mark came to an abrupt end at the hands of national No. 12 Williams over the weekend thanks to a 9−0 drubbing.

Festival Preview | Independent Film Festival of Boston kicks off tomorrow night

Tomorrow night, the Independent Film Festival of Boston — featuring some of this year's most talked about independent films — begins with the screening of Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini's "The Extra Man." As is tradition, the film will play at Somerville Theatre, starting at 7:30 p.m. One of the stars, critically−acclaimed actor Kevin Kline, will be in attendance for the opening of the festival.

Western Conference Playoff Preview | Lakers, Mavs are the class of a deep playoff field

The NBA Playoffs are finally here. The next two months promise to pack more excitement than the entire regular season, and once again, the Western Conference is stacked. All eight teams in the West bracket have at least 50 wins, and the eight−seeded Oklahoma City Thunder would be the fourth seed in the East. For members of the key eurozone economies, the debate surrounding a potential Greek bailout culminated on Monday with the extension of a lifeline to the Greeks, should they in fact request one. Totaling $40 billion in loans at five percent interest, the eurozone Greek bailout supplements the $20 billion the International Monetary Fund has made available at an even lower interest rate.
