Craig Frucht | Road to November
November 26Something incredible happened three weeks ago that threw the media into a frenzy and the Republican Party into a state of all?out panic.
Is Hillel truly "the foundation for Jewish campus life" for all Jews?
November 26Hillel is advertised as "the foundation for Jewish campus life." I assumed this meant that Tufts Hillel is a place for all Jews, but recently learned this is not true. Unfortunately, this supposed "foundation for Jewish campus life" is limited to Jews who support Israel in its current form, including the occupation of Palestine and the violence towards people in Gaza. As a Jewish student who is on Tufts Hillel board, a proud member of Tufts Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) and Boston Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), I feel isolated at Hillel. My Jewish identity provides context to my life, my worldview and my experiences. I should feel welcomed at Hillel, especially because my personal opposition to the occupation of Palestine stems from my Jewish values.
Mashed potatoes, hummus and settler colonialism
November 18There's something about November that never fails to transport me back to my days in elementary school. I remember the excitement boiling up in my stomach in anticipation of that ambiguous period known as "the holidays." It was finally time to dust off the age-old story of Thanksgiving and cut feathers out of red, yellow and orange construction paper for my headdress. My heart would always flutter at the thought of being able to reveal to yet another group of people that I am related to William Bradford - "the guy who invented Thanksgiving" I would boast.
Kosher deli is welcome addition
November 14This spring, Tufts Dining Services will open a kosher deli in response to student interest. The deli will be located where the Jumbo Express storage space is and will provide kosher hot dogs, deli meat sandwiches, salads and soups.
Event shafted: Asleep before midnight
November 13I would say most Tufts students agree that the school's party scene is predominately, and on some nights solely, reliant on Greek life. Sweaty basements and "Gangnam Style" constitute a typical Friday night and satisfy both the need to unwind and to make regrettable decisions following a stressful week.
Tufts Kink will broaden campus sexual culture for the better
November 13Today's Features article introduces Tufts Kink, a group founded this semester that promotes open conversations about kinky sex and endeavors to offer a safe space to students who are interested in BDSM (bondage/discipline, domination/submission, sadism/masochism).
