The candidates for all levels of student government gathered in Hotung Caf?© last night for the Tufts Community Union (TCU) government's candidates' forum.
The event is designed as familiarization tool for candidates to get their ideas known to the Tufts community. Candidates were given a few moments to introduce themselves and present their policies.
In light of the short time that the new first years have had on campus, freshmen candidates mainly touched base on their past experience and reputations with high school government and emphasized their diverse backgrounds.
There were, however, some potential policies in this fresh crowd's mind such as expanding the number of intramural sports and suggesting an act to better dining hall food and later dining hours.
Having a year's worth of experience in mind, sophomore candidates presented more specific ideas for office ranging from pest control in dorms to moving sophomore parking closer to the main bulk of campus - in contrast to the current spot near the Cousens Gym parking lot.
Candidates expressed their interest in working to serve rather than using their higher position in the community as a status symbol.
Elections will be held online today from 9 a.m until midnight.
