The softball players who participated in the Brown and Bruised Fall Classic softball tournament weren't afraid to get a little dirty for the love of the game. On Saturday, three teams faced off in a quest for softball supremacy, with Really Good taking the crown.
The tournament featured three seeding rounds during the day on Saturday and two elimination rounds in the afternoon. Really Good won both its seeding rounds and ended up claiming the championship game. That morning the champs beat Team America, lost to Really Good, and then followed up with another win over Sherman's Sluggers.
In the third game, Sherman's Sluggers played Team America and later in the day the two teams faced off again with Team America winning the right to play, and ultimately lose to, Really Good in the final.
The Brown and Bruised Fall Classic was the last of the one-day tournaments for this season. Regular intramural softball will still be held throughout the remainder of the fall.
There is also a fresh opportunity for students to play intramural soccer on Friday, whether they are involved with other intramurals or not. The format is very laid-back as anyone can walk on the field and participate.
There is also open soccer on Friday out on the turf field from 8-10 p.m. Players just need a Tufts ID.
In other Intramural contests, Flag Football has had a strong start. In the Sunday Grass League at Fletcher Field, The Kings of Sowee, Winthrop, The Shiites, and T3 are tied for first place in the league with two wins apiece. Dem Apples, Dynomite, Dun nun nunt, and the Odontoblasts each have one win. This is not including any un-scored games. The next set of games will be held this Sunday, and there are only three more sets of games to play.
The Tuesday Turf League on the turf field has only played one set of games so far. E-Men United, Franchise, and Pretty Ponie each won its game on Oct. 5. The turf season is slightly longer than the Grass League's season, as games continue until the Nov. 16 playoffs.
In IM Basketball, School Bus, Zeta Psi, and Fletcher #2 are in first place with perfect 3-0 records. Fletcher #1 is 1-2, while Funktronics, Lisuk, Scottie, InvASIAN, and the Geezers are all 1-2. The league has three more games remaining until playoffs begin.
In the Competitive Basketball League, Too Easy is clearly dominating at 3-0. Tufts Baseball and SPF are solid in second with 2-1 records, while Sig Ep is 1-2. Playoffs begin Nov. 3.
Volleyball playoffs are also swiftly approaching, and with over fourteen teams, it looks like every team has a chance to make the playoffs. Big Freshie and the Isotopes are in first place at 3-0. Puerto Rican, Huang, and the E-Men each sport records of 2-1, while the Mutant Babies, H3, Giannattsio, C-Mike, Fletcher, and the Spanish Armada sit at 1-2.
In the Monday Night Indoor League, The Veterans and Dem Apples each have two wins. The FC International and Jug A Wines have one win.
The Tuesday Night Indoor League has three weeks remaining until the playoffs. So far, the teams are in a dead heat. Zeta Psi, FC International, Extreme Team, Simon from England, and Tuft Guys each have two wins. The Metcalf Mutilators are hanging in there with one win.
In the Wednesday Night Indoor League, with only two more games until playoffs, there's a chance that any team could make it. The standings have not been updated yet, but as of September 28, Burdlobster, Ozone, Title, and Dearborn had two wins, Everton FC, T.Awesome, and Schuster had one win. However, two unreported games have been played since.
