Dear readers,
It's the most wonderful time of the semester - the temperatures are cooling, leaves are reddening and the Daily is daily again! That means you'll get your news, concert reviews, sports scorecards and yes, a Sudoku, every day this week and every week hereafter.
Even more exciting, the Daily is now chock full of columns. Out of 15 this fall, you're sure to find one or two - or seven - that you'll come back for week after week.
First up, in Features, we have LexErath, tackling the everyday challenges of being a young adult at a Massachusetts university in "Sugar and Spice." On Tuesdays, PetarTodarov looks at developments in technology and how Tufts fits into the ever-changing picture. Joining them is Lily Sieradzki, a features editor, writing "Media Junky" about life in the digital age. And Ben Zuckert, a senior, relates his class on the Hebrew Bible to his undergraduate experience at Tufts in "Straight Out of the Bible."
Columnists in Arts take on music, food and culture. Ryan Buell gives his rundown on "This Week in Hip Hop." With "Where's the Craic," Megan Clark returns for her second semester as a columnist relating Irish film to culture and history. NimartaNarang says "Hello USA" in her column about American culture from an international student's perspective. On Thursdays, Susie Church's "Food Fight" pins two restaurants or food vendors against each other to tell Tufts who's better.
"Show Me the Money!" is where returning columnist Walt Laws-McDonald explains the economy in layman's terms, and Eloise Libre keeps things whimsical in "Frankly Candid." While BhushanDeshpande, an opinion editor, records the goings-on at Tufts from a senior's perspective in "Words of Wisdom," Adam Kaminski writes on becoming acquainted with Tufts as a freshman on campus.
In Sports, columnists take on both personal and professional athletics. On Tuesdays, Jordan Bean's "Sacked" challenges fans, players and teams to live up to the standards of the sporting world. Aaron Leibowitz, a sports editor, returns with "The Fan" on Wednesdays to relay his experience as an aficionado of all things sports. Three other sports editors round out the week: Tyler Maher offers a "Beantown Beat" on Thursdays, and Ross Dember and Alex Schroeder stir up memories of their sports-playing pasts on Fridays.
