Details: A panel of speakers will explore how marginalized people have retooled or rejected the impact of colonialism and missionary activity in the past with current social movements. Moderated by Dr. Heather Curtis, associate professor of religion, the panel will include Dr. Natalie Avalos, visiting assistant professor of religious studies from Connecticut College; Dr. Aisha M. Beliso-De Jesus, assistant professor of African-American religions at the Harvard Divinity School; Dr. Linford Fisher, associate professor of history at Brown University; Reverend Irene Monroe, a writer, speaker and theologian.

"World Hunger: 10 Myths"
Details:Author Frances Moore Lappé will speak about climate change, population growth, GMOs and the role of U.S. foreign aid in their relation to hunger. Her talk will revolve around the question, "Why hunger despite an abundance of food?" She argues that sustainable agriculture can feed the world.

"Intimate Violence & the Politics of Ethnographic Representation in Egypt"
Details: Lisa Wynn, the associate professor of anthropology from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, will speak about the link between love and desire, pain and violence and kinship and gender roles. Wynn will use an ethnographic case study of intimate violence and use that as a springboard to explore the dilemma of representation.
