Book listens deeply for real America
October 21Among American rock critics, Greil Marcus is the titan whose brilliance is taken for granted even though few of his readers can tell you just what it is he's talking about.
Judicial Advocacy comeback helpful
October 21For many students, an e-mail from Judicial Affairs Officer Veronica Carter strikes fear into the strongest of hearts. Yet students who find themselves in trouble are not beyond help: they may call upon a student advocate for advice on how best to navigate Tufts judicial apparatus.
Sam Dupont | Red Sky at night
October 21If anything will make a man reconsider his faith in divine prudence, it is a trip on the Chinese bus system. I sat awake one recent night, eyes wide open and sweating bullets, a cartoonish figure of insanity, as the driver of my long-haul sleeper bus killed the engine, and silence fell on the highway. We were somewhere in the wasteland between Beijing and Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, in the middle of a miles-long train of buses and trucks, all at a dead halt.
Despite the name, 'Pyramids' is not one of the wonders of the world

Why do some Jumbos donate while others don't?
October 19"I think more people would donate if there was better publicity. I think flyers in the dorms are really good for on-campus students, and chalk on the ground always works well, too. It's also a good idea to advertise in the Daily - everyone reads the Daily."

Matt Mertens | Freelancer
October 19The saddest part about the Arizona Cardinals' historic collapse on Monday Night Football against 'Da Bears is that everyone in the greater Phoenix area must have seen it coming. Campus Comment | Jumbos are used to giving time, but what about blood?
October 19Next week, the Red Cross will visit Tufts for the biannual campus blood drive. But will students be there to donate their blood? Not all of them - and it's not just because Jumbos are afraid of needles.
CD Review | Lindsey Buckingham moves past Fleetwood Mac to find 'his own way'
October 19If "Almost Famous" (2000) taught us anything, it's that every ??ber-successful band of the '60s, '70s and beyond were all about sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. What's left out of the story is what happens when a rock superstar's glory days are over. In the case of Lindsey Buckingham, he resurfaced some 30 years later, graying and humble, with a solo album to show off his damaged, sensitive side.
Book Review | Fake, overzealous evangelicals infiltrate media
October 19In the world of the Landover Baptist Church, a kid can get a PlayStation 3 for his soul, book-burning is the norm, and practitioners are urged to circumcise themselves to take their faith into their own hands.

Jyll Saskin | Fashion Informer
October 19It is said that you can't judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes. After tackling the jeans issue last week, I felt it was only appropriate this week to explore the second most important part of every female's wardrobe: shoes.
