Restaurant Review | Sullivan's - what Cheers wishes it could have been - takes burgers seriously

On this health-conscious campus, working out is a way of life. But if you want to get the desired high-impact effect, forget that silly gym; try hoisting an O'Sullivan's burger and some specialty fries - then you'll understand what working out truly means. R. F. O'Sullivan & Son in Somerville is a place where the food reigns supreme, but the huge, centrally located bar area and neon beer signs remind you where you really are: a neighborhood pub.

A tradition comes to life at the Somerville Museum

"I want you all to know: Everyone who participates in this dance, St. Francis blesses them, economically and also spiritually," community leader Candelario Flores announced to the over-capacity crowd that had gathered in the small Somerville Museum on Saturday.

Leah Roffman | Baseline Banter

As the NBA season comes to a close (and I try to hold back the tears), I've been reflecting on the main storyline of the year. And I think I've finally come up with something: if you want to win games, don't score too much.

Baseball | Bowdoin sweeps Tufts over weekend series

It appeared that Tufts brought a different team to this weekend's three-game series against Bowdoin than the one that jumped to No. 9 in the national polls, propelled by an 11-4 record and an explosive offense.

By the Numbers | Is there a doctor in the house?

According to a recently-released World Heath Organization (WHO) report, a severe shortage of health workers is endangering the health - and shortening the life expectancies - of individuals in many countries around the globe. WHO Assistant Director General Dr. Timothy Evans says in the report that "not enough health workers are being trained or recruited where they are most needed, and increasing numbers are joining a brain drain of qualified professions who are migrating to better-paid jobs in richer countries." In this installment of "By the Numbers," the Daily explores the report's results.

Theater Review | Trust your 'instinct' and stay away from this one

The entrance to the Boston Playwrights' Theatre could be an omen for "The Maternal Instinct." The narrow alleyway-type ramp next to McDonald's leading to plain gray doors is a bit unusual, but one still expects to enter a normal theatre. Similarly, the stark set of "The Maternal Instinct" is unexpected, but the play seems promising anyway.

Benjamin Bell | Spare Me

A few weeks ago, I walked into the fitness center around 9 p.m. to find the place completely packed. All the machines were being used, and people were fighting like rabid dogs over the dumbbells. As I walked bitterly towards the "cubby " area, knowing I would have to wait to use one of the bikes, I began to calm down. I realized that the fitness center being packed was actually a good thing, and that I should try not to be so self-centered (quite difficult for me). After all, there are a lot of unhealthy people at Tufts who need to spend more time at the gym and less time at the soft-serve ice cream machine.

Free Trade Ethics | A philosophical approach to immigration policy

This past Friday, the Senate failed to pass a bipartisan agreement that would have given most illegal immigrants a chance to become citizens, created a temporary guest worker program to meet the needs of business and tightened border security. Immigration is a complicated affair and any successful argument for or against it must take into account its social and economic implications.
