Drama department benefits from new welding capabilities

Tufts' Scene Shop at 66 Colby Street, which is used to construct sets for Drama Department productions, regained its functionality as a welding space last month after strict enforcement of fire codes three years ago made the building unavailable for metalwork.

Petition alleges HR condones discrimination

Specialized labs let engineering students develop practical skills

A student plays notes on a digital piano as a peer looks on, trying to discover more about each keystroke he makes. As part of their senior electrical engineering project, seniors Erik Formella, Calvin Hopkins and Charlie Powell spend several hours in one of the Halligan Hall labs every day, experimenting with how quickly a computer can recognize when someone plays a note on the piano and attempting to make the computer process this faster.

Deans, advisers walk line between privacy and parental involvement

Helicopter parents face a dilemma. While they believe they should be allowed to check on their college student children, these children are also college students, and the university also treats them as independent adults. Tufts is therefore required to protect their confidentiality if parental interference is undesired.
