Mullins beats odds

When Georgetown University track coach Frank Gagliano got a call from Aimee Mullins in the summer of 1995 asking to join the track team, he was about to do something he had never done before in 37 years of coaching: work with a disabled athlete - and furthermore, a double below-the-knee amputee. Mullins, then a junior at Georgetown, was also about to embark on a first: she had never run organized track before. Before long, however, she would be taking the sport by storm.
