A ticket to ride

Who would have thought a trip to the campus center would result in a trip to the Bahamas? Or a weekend getaway to some of the ritziest Boston nightspots? Certainly not seniors Adrian Wilairat and Jeremy Bratt, Winter Week's luckiest participants.

Wilairat was one of the 14 contestants in Outcast, an event held at Hotung last Thursday. Outcast, a game show based on television's Survivor, is sponsored by Toner Sound Entertainment Group and holds events to give away prizes at college campuses nationwide. By lip synching, answering trivia questions, and performing other odd tasks, Wilairat won himself a ticket to paradise.

"I'm totally psyched. It's really bizarre, I never thought I'd be winning a cruise to the Bahamas," he said. "It's still hard to believe I won."

Wilairat thanked his friends for helping him win the game - in Outcast, audience members get to vote off contestants, and Wilairat came with a large contingent of buddies to keep him in the running. "I basically give all the props to my friends. They were showing me the love and the rest of the crowd got into it," he said.

Wilairat can take his trip during any weekend over the next year, with the exception of holidays.

Bratt won A Tid Bit Nippy's weekend getway to Boston, which landed him two nights at the Park Plaza Hotel, tickets to The Phantom of the Opera, lunch at Cheers, and dinner at the Prudential Center's Top of the Hub. "I was elated," said Bratt, who won the trip through a raffle. "I didn't know about it and I didn't know what I won. It was just a big surprise."

Though their outlook on the festivities can be considered anything but impartial, Williams and Bratt both praised Winter Week as a whole: "I think Winter Week was totally awesome. There were tons of cool events," Wilairat said. "I think [the Office of] Student Activities did a great job. It's a great way to start off second semester."
