From the Editor-in-Chief | Under construction, but on its way up

If you're in the habit of checking out tuftsdaily.com before heading to your first class every morning (or, if you're lucky, before heading to your first class each afternoon), you've probably noticed that over the past few days, the site has been in a state of transition.

Well, as I wrote in this space last week, my staff and I are committed to making the Daily a more visually compelling publication (witness Wednesday's full-page photo spread, the first of many).

That commitment extends to the online version of the paper as well. In fact, once our new site is fully operational, its levels of visual appeal, accessibility and interactivity will put those of the old one to shame. Think polls, story forums, photo slideshows and even audio and video clips.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience. Like many worthwhile transformations, this one won't be instantaneous, and we're sure to encounter a few glitches along the way. We apologize in advance for any resultant technical difficulties, but we will make it up to you: Ultimately, our Web redesign will result in a tuftsdaily.com that not only meets your needs and pleases the eye, but also gets you thinking.

And please, keep us thinking: Visit the site and post a comment, or e-mail us at letters@tuftsdaily.com.
