The senior tri-captain became the second Jumbo on the 2005-2006 roster to provisionally qualify for the NCAA?Championships in the 5,000 meters on Saturday. Racing to 15th place at the?St. Valentine's Invitational, Ades' 17:36.32 puts her tenth in the nation in the event.
Ades easily beat the qualifying time of 17:55 and set a new personal record in the 5,000 by almost a minute. She joins sophomore teammate Catherine Beck on the list of runners qualified for the 5,000.
Ades' route to Nationals hasn't been as easy or straight as she might have liked. Last season, Ades was studying abroad and did not compete, then suffered an injury over the summer and worked most of the cross country season to get back to the top of the Jumbos' squad. Before she can set her sights on Nationals, she and the rest of the team will be looking ahead to this weekend, when Tufts will try to unseat Williams and take the Div. III New England Regional title.
