Dorm shutdown saves Tufts energy, money

To Tufts dorm residents: Thank you!

You all deserve congratulations for making the winter break dorm shutdown successful. The dorms were left in excellent condition.

Special congratulations go to Hill Hall, who has won a pizza party for having the best compliance with the shutdown. It was a tough decision, but Hill stood out from all the rest. Way to go, Hill Hall!

Your work before you left has helped Tufts save big money! We estimate that just by unplugging refrigerators for a month, the university saved more than $5,000.

This doesn't include all the computers, TV's, and DVD players that would normally be running if students were on campus.

The Facilities department was able to turn the heat down in many buildings, make needed repairs and install heating valves in three dorms that will allow you to control the heat in your room.

Thank you all for supporting the University as we do our part to save money, fight climate change, and make the campus safer for everyone.
