Let's talk about (safe) sex

The use of contraception in oral sex was debated heatedly in Pearson 104 last night, as sexologist Logan Levkoff spoke to a packed room. Levkoff, who has made frequent appearances in women's magazines like Redbook - as well as on MTV, VH1, Oprah and the E! channel - was brought to Tufts through a Tufts Hillel initiative called "Vitality: Living Healthy, Living Well."

Levkoff sees herself as the "voice of the next generation of sexually healthy women" and repeatedly mentioned her desire to change the world's perception of sexuality throughout her talk.

Levkoff's candid and open discussion centered around issues of sexuality, intimacy, college relationships and responsibility within sexual health.

"It was all stuff that we had read before in Cosmo, but [Levkoff addressed issues] that people never actually talk about," freshman Jenna Hartman said after attending the lecture.

Hot topics of discussion included the role of the media in sex education, gender roles, open relationships in college, the growing popularity of the "friends with benefits" phenomenon and responsibility concerning sexual health.

Throughout the lecture, Levkoff stressed and reiterated the importance of practicing safe sex-especially in instances of oral sex.

Levkoff was recently hired by Yahoo! Personals, which just partnered with Starbucks. Levkoff offers dating and sex advice to members through the service's Espresso Dating Guide.
