Alyssa corbett, women's lacrosse

Sophomore Alyssa Corbett led the way for the Jumbos on Satruday, pouring in five goals and two assists as Tufts came away with a 17-14 win over Bates in its first taste of league action this season. Corbett scored early and often, contributing two goals in the first half and tallying again at just the right times to keep the Tufts lead comfortable. It was a breakout game for the sophomore, who ranks third on the team in goals, with 11, and eighth in assists, with 4, for 15 total points, third best on the high-powered Jumbo offense. Corbett is part of a formidable core of returning offensive starters, and she was complemented by a hat trick from senior tri-captain Dena Miller and a pair of tallies each from junior Lauren Murphy and sophomore Sarah Williams. The Jumbos will need all their weapons when they take on Bowdoin, No. 2 in the league at 10-5 overall (2-0 NESCAC).
