From the Editor-In-Chief | Here we go again...

Welcome back, returning students, transfers, faculty and staff! (Especially seniors, Oh-Seven!)

We'll be working this semester to bring you your crossword and Sudoku, as well as our usual top-notch news, features, arts and sports coverage.

But we at The Tufts Daily also look forward to the opportunity to improve and strengthen our paper over the course of the coming months.

That's why, this semester, we'll be codifying our policy on ethics to explain our standards for reporting and guide our interactions with students, faculty and staff on campus. We'll have this publicly available on our Web site by the end of the semester.

We're also working to revamp our editorial department to focus more on the Tufts campus and address more student needs.

We're making changes like this because we're passionate about being a vehicle of free expression and exchange on campus, but to do this effectively, we need YOU. The more involved our readership, the better our paper. If we're not relevant to you as a student body, then we're not doing our job.

So, have you had it with Reslife? Are you passionate about midterm elections? Write a Viewpoint (op-ed) to have your opinion heard.

Do you have a problem with our coverage? Write a letter and let us know. Criticism? Bring it on.

As an active member of the Tufts community, you can help us with our reporting as well. If you are aware of a story around campus that might warrant our attention, contact our news department. Its email address is tuftsdailynews@yahoo.com.

You should also feel free to come and visit us in our office. (Take a right after the Curtis Hall post office and follow the path down into the small parking lot.) Better yet, join our staff. There are lots of opportunities this fall in all of our editorial departments: news, features, arts, and sports. Or if you are more the visual type, the photo and production departments have just the jobs for you.

We're very excited to serve you again this year - we hope it's a great one.
