Officers from the Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) responded to a call that someone was laying in the back seat of a parked car in front of the Pearson Chemistry Building at 12:49 a.m. on Nov. 1. When the officers arrived, they found that the individual was conscious, but had also thrown up.
In talking to the individual further, they learned that he had been out celebrating his 21st birthday.
"For his birthday present, he got a transport to Somerville Hospital," TUPD Sergeant Robert McCarthy said.
Police received a vandalism report at 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 2. An individual had drawn a swastika outside of someone's room in the hallway off the third floor of Carmichael Hall.
According to McCarthy, a picture of the swastika was taken, after which police notified the One Source staff, who removed it.
A student reported on Nov. 6 that he had several items stolen from his room in South Hall on the night of Nov. 4. The individual and his roommate went out for the evening around 9 p.m. They came back at around 1:30 a.m. The individual then left his room again for about an hour and returned around 2:30. He discovered that his laptop, backpack, headphones and calculator were all missing.
His roommate was asleep during this time, and the individual is unsure of whether or not he locked the door when he left for the second time.
While officers were clearing out a party at the Delta Upsilon house at 2:21 a.m. on Nov. 5., they smelled the "distinct odor of marijuana," McCarthy said. The smell was coming from one of the residential rooms.
Officers, believing that there were people inside the room, knocked on the door. When no one answered, officers pushed the door open. No one was in the room, but there was a glass pipe, along with remnants of marijuana and a two-liter bottle of JJ Bean. The smoke detector had been tampered with, as well; one of the wires had been cut to ensure that it would not go off.
After doing a resident check, the officers found the resident of the room was only 19. The alcohol was confiscated and disposed of. The pipe was brought to the police station where it was photographed and destroyed.
