Article: Op-Ed | "Levi's column 'tips' the scale" (Sept. 28)

Post: I was going to comment on Ms. Levi's article, and then saw this posting as well. I commend Ms. Fusco and Ms. Aronson for their articulate analysis of the column, and for taking the time to distinguish the liberating and outrageous from the derrogatory and presumptuous. Having attended Tufts in the days of Amber Madison's column, I agree that sex columns can open up important dialogues about sex, gender and society. Levi's work, like Madison's, makes me hope that future discussion-generating columns will exhibit the sophistication and linguistic responsibility that Fusco and Aronson put into their work. Go Jumbos.

Article: Letter to the Editor | "Bottled Water" (Sept. 25)

Post: What an atrocious letter. It really highlights the attempts by large corporations driven by power and greed to manipulate the minds of college students. Thanks to organizations like The American Beverage Association, there are people all over the world who do not have access to clean, fresh water. As globally minded Tufts students, this is an injustice that will not be tolerated any longer. The tides are turning, and individuals like Kevin Keane are doing everything in their power to maintain the status quo.

Article: Letter to the Editor | "Bottled Water" (Sept. 25)

Post: First, 100 percent recyclable does not equal 100 percent recycled. Second, 0.02 percent of total oil consumption is significant when that total is the highest in the world. But beyond that, water is a basic (and in America, plentiful) natural resource that every man has a right to. When we give large companies the ability to take that resource and sell it back to us, we are enabling the commercialization of something more inherently essential than anything the Constitution protects. And if you want convenience, buy a Nalgene.

Article: Features | "Matt Savage brings prodigy piano skills to Granoff" (Sept. 28)

Post: Well, where does one begin after reading such an article as this. Firstly I should say that I own all of Matt's CDs, and that I've met him personaly. I actually had the pleasure of taking him and his mom out to dinner this past summer.

So in saying that, I should tell you that he is just a normal 15-year-old when he is not sitting in front of a piano. But when he is sits down to play, it's a different story. Anyone who has seen or heard him, knows what I am saying.

In this article, you have described him and his ability to play the piano, to a T. His mom has told me that when she thinks she knows where he's going with his music, he adds something new. When you watch him play his hands glide effortlessly up and down the keys, like a butterfly in flight. He is an amazing piano player, and a wonderful young man with a great personality, and this article is right on. To you the reader, if you cannot see the Matt Savage Trio live, then you should purchase at least one of his CD's, because he is going to go far in the Jazz world, and you would've heard him at the beginning of his career. Listen to his music and enjoy.
