Sex Fair was about open discussion

Ashley Samelson may have been displeased when she entered the campus center on Valentine's Day, but upon reading her Viewpoint, "Sex fair sends the wrong message" in last Monday's Daily, I was appalled to discover an educated young woman spouting such an archaic and sexist sexual rhetoric.

In our Midst | There's no 'me' in film for Tufts student duo

What do you get when you take two parts director, one part actor, engineer, writer and animation enthusiast, and season it all with a small New England university? The answer is a 25-minute film noir-style movie written, directed, filmed and performed by sophomore Benjamin Samuels and junior Nick Pasquariello, two Tufts students attempting to make names for themselves in the world of filmmaking.

Speakers discuss'UNcertain Future'

The 2007 Norris and Margery Bendetson EPIIC International Symposium, "Global Crises: Governance and Intervention," began yesterday with a panel entitled "UNcertain Future?" that examined the evolving role of the United Nations in international relations. The distinguished guests discussed a broad range of topics ranging from the tensions between the United States and the U.N. to the genocide in Darfur.

The Ataris' underwhelming effort is more like ColecoVision

Hailing from Anderson, Ind., The Ataris are far from a new addition to the rock scene, but only recently have they released their second major label record, "Welcome the Night", four years after their debut, "So Long, Astoria." Upon first listening to the new album, it sounds nearly nothing like The Ataris from 2003, who had left a bruise on the hearts of teenagers across the nation with their catchy hit cover of Don Henley's "Boys of Summer."

Davis Square event features one-man show

Local performer Jimmy Tingle's act was part of a larger "Tufts in Davis Square" event featuring Tufts comedian Neil Padover, who is also a columnist for the Daily; a capella group S-Factor; and Tufts band Melodesiac. Tufts' Programming Board and the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate organized the event.
