Zach Drucker | The Loser

A wise, veteran sports journalist once told me that "sports are recession-proof." Even in times of economic crisis, sports remain a popular oasis for Americans. In this regard, sports are phenomena of society that reflect our love of leisure and our capitalistic nature. Yet, sports are becoming increasingly synonymous with one more concept: sex.

Alex Arthur | King Arthur's Court

The NHL playoffs are in the midst of an image crisis. In a postseason that has been rife with spectacular play, fighting and dirty hits have overshadowed it all. It all started when Nashville Predators star defenseman Shea Weber slammed Detroit Red Wings forward HenrikZetterberg's face into the glass after the final whistle of Nashville's 3?2 Game 1 victory. Brendan Shanahan, the NHL's dean of discipline, decided against suspending Weber for his antics, choosing rather to fine him $2,500. With the precedent set that overtly dirty plays would go unpunished, all hell broke loose. Eight players have been suspended after just a week of first?round action. All of this culminated Tuesday night with a hit delivered by Phoenix Coyote Raffi Torres on Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa that hospitalized Hossa.

Men's Lacrosse | Tufts back in top 10 after crushing Endicott on Tuesday

Before Tuesday's home matchup against Endicott, the men's lacrosse team had played five games in a row on the road and, after dropping one in overtime to then?unranked Trinity, had fallen out of the USILA's top 10. But by Tuesday morning, the No. 7 Jumbos again found themselves among the Div. III elite and took to Bello Field that afternoon for the first time in over two weeks with a chance to do two things: confirm their status as national contenders, and reap revenge on the only non?conference team to beat them in last year's regular season.
