David McIntyre | The Beautiful Game

In my Sept. 30 column, I extolled the virtues of the new soccer video game, FIFA '12 and shared my excitement as I got ready to play my first game on the new version. And don't get me wrong - FIFA has proven to be a great game during these last few months, and my friends and I have gotten hours of enjoyment from it. But there was an even better game released on Oct. 21 that is even more realistic, dramatic and addicting than FIFA: Its name is Football Manager 2012.

Women's Squash | New freshmen could surprise opponents

After losing its No. 1, 2 and 4 starters to graduation on the heels of a subpar9−16 season, the men's squash team's prospects might look bleak. But with the right mix of returning talent and young freshmen looking to prove themselves, the Jumbos hope they can turn things around this winter.

Ben Kochman | The Wackness

Those who hate on Tufts sports usually don't know what the heck they are talking about. They say things like "No one cares about our football team," or "I just don't like sports, but did you hear the new Neon Indian album?"

Swimming & Diving | Jumbos gear up for another strong season in the pool

Every year, you can expect three things from the men's swimming and diving team: energy, depth and a top−three finish in the NESCAC. This year is no exception, and although the Jumbos lost eight members of their squad to graduation, including four All−Americans, they believe they have enough strength throughout their lineup to succeed.

Inside NFL | How the AFC West will be won

If a casual fan were given the opportunity, before this season, to choose a division in which every single team would have a negative point−differential after Week 10, a resounding number of people would have chosen the lowly NFC West.

Alex Prewitt | Live from Mudville

Now I realize that writing about Tim Tebow only perpetuates the cycle of the rest of the media writing, talking, blogging and childishly gossiping about Tebow. But to strike at the root of an issue, one must confront it head−on.

Club Lacrosse | (Lack of) practice makes perfect

All too often in sports, coaches and commentators expel the tired cliche that practice makes perfect. Legendary Green Bay Packers coach Vince Lombardi amended this phrase, telling his players that only perfect practice makes perfect.

Men's Soccer | Golden Gus

Freshman midfielder Gus Santos capped off a stellar first season for the men's soccer team by winning the NESCAC Rookie of the Year award. He was the first Jumbo to win the award in at least 11 seasons.

Volleyball | Jumbos bounced by Pride in NCAA second round

The volleyball team won its first−round match in dramatic fashion this past weekend at the NCAA Tournament, but was unable to advance past the second round on Saturday. Entering as the No. 4 seed, the Jumbos edged Roger Williams on Friday night in a five−set thriller, but the next day, No.1−seeded Springfield put an end to Tufts' stellar 26−6 season with a 3−1 win.

Editor's Challenge | Week 10

The clock's struck 10 and the bell has rung, so flood down the back steps onto the playground for another edition of Eds Challenge with your playful hosts, the Tufts Daily sports section. Obey the code or get struck down by the wrath of schoolyard authority, but feel free to scamper about and engage in all sorts of kooky antics, because at this hour, we break free from the restrictive bonds of adult society and make our own great escape into blacktop heaven.

Ben Kochman | The Wackness

I wasn't in the room when the Penn State Board of Trustees decided to fire Joe Paterno last night, but I doubt the scene Tuesday evening outside Paterno's house helped the coaching legend's cause.
