Men's Basketball | Tufts salvages split against Connecticut College, Wesleyan

Heading into this past weekend with a three-game winning streak, the men's basketball team looked to solidify its place in the top half of the NESCAC standings with matchups against the conference's two worst teams, Connecticut College and Wesleyan. A Tufts sweep would have guaranteed a spot in the NESCAC playoffs for the first time since the 2006-07 season. Coming away empty-handed would have thrown that playoff spot into jeopardy.

The men's basketball team is on fire. It is riding a three-game winning streak, shooting well and is sitting at its highest NESCAC standing in half a decade. The Jumbos are showing roster depth unheard of in recent program history. A pair of wins against the conference's bottom two this weekend will put them in a commanding position to clinch a bid to the NESCAC tournament for the first time since 2007, barring a complete late-season collapse.

Cycling received another major blow this week when the Spanish Cycling Federation announced its verdict on the recent case against three-time and reigning Tour de France champion Alberto Contador. The verdict: guilty. The punishment: a one-year ban and the loss of his 2010 title.

As the temperature plummets and winter comes into full force, the ice hockey team is heading down the home stretch of its season and trying to qualify for the NESCAC Tournament. The team, however, is mired in an eight−game losing streak, which has coincided with the loss of one of its key players: junior goalie and quad−captain Scott Barchard.

Men's Squash | Men's squash in desperation mode after weekend losses

After losing all four of its weekend matches, the No. 23 men's squash team found itself at 4−10 overall and on the verge of dropping out of the Collegiate Squash Association's (CSA) top 24 for the first time in more than 10 years. Despite their setbacks, however, the Jumbos' main objective remains unchanged from the beginning of the season.
