Inside the NFL | Albert Haynesworth: The Redskins' $41 million disaster

Albert Haynesworth's tenure as a member of the Washington Redskins presumably came to a close Tuesday afternoon after being suspended, without pay, for the final four games of the season. All reports out of Washington's front office indicate that Haynesworth will either be traded or released this coming offseason. This suspension arose after a season-long struggle between Haynesworth and head coach Mike Shanahan. While Haynesworth and those close to him protest that he is being treated unfairly, his actions demonstrate that he is clearly in the wrong.

Enraged Cavaliers fans bring the noise against LeBron

Last Thursday night marked the most anticipated return since, well, maybe ever. A player that had spent his entire career playing for the Cavaliers finally came back to the city that had loved him since his entrance into the league. Here's a hint: It's not a 7−foot−3 bald Lithuanian.

Ethan Frigon | The Beard Abides

Based solely on on−field exploits, Auburn quarterback Cam Newton should clearly win this year's Heisman Trophy. There hasn't been this clear−cut of a Heisman frontrunner for as long as I can remember. Sure, Tim Tebow was great in 2007, putting up very similar numbers to Newton this year with more touchdowns and passing yards and fewer rushing yards. A bad defense hamstrung Tebow's Florida Gators to the tune of a 9−4 season, and Heisman winners almost never play for 9−4 teams — even those with a mediocre defense. Auburn's defense has been unable to stop Newton from leading them to a 13−0 season and a spot in the BCS National Championship.

Women's Swimming and Diving | Jumbos place fifth at MIT Invite

While most classmates were busy preparing for finals, members of the women's swimming and diving team spent most of their weekend at the MIT Invitational competing against six other squads, including Div. I Harvard. Tufts placed fifth overall — a successful result, considering that the Jumbos were neither as prepared nor as rested as many of their opponents.

Women's Track and Field | Jumbos shake out jitters in first meet

The first few meets of the indoor track and field season are traditionally used to get a bearing on the fitness of team members. For the Jumbos, the Jay Carisella Track and Field Invitational, hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, turned out to be an opportunity to set high marks and fast times too.

Women's Basketball | Colleen Hart named NESCAC Player of the Week

Senior guard Colleen Hart's 19 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last week in two Jumbo victories has earned the women's basketball tri-captain NESCAC Player of the Week honors. Last Tuesday, Hart put up a season-high 23 points to help the Jumbos pull away in the second half over Salem State in a 59-49 win. In Saturday's 70-36 rout of Colby-Sawyer, Hart followed up that performance with her second double-double of the season — 15 points and 11 rebounds.

As a general rule, I don't care too much for bowl games. They're similar to mayonnaise in that vein. If someone thrusts it in front of me and insists upon supplementing my healthy sandwich comprised of college basketball, NBA and NFL with some BCS condiment, so be it.

Going from one extreme to the other is a hallmark of any Pakistani cricket team. After putting up a great fight against a strong South African team in the test matches — during which a player actually ran away from host city Abu Dhabi to London, citing some death threats made to him by unknown sources, without telling the team management about the "threats" — there are fresh match-fixing allegations against five more players in the team.
