Video: Ten questions with a street performer

On a rainless weekend morning above 40 degrees, you can usually find Roland Pearsall, director of institutional research at a small private college in Boston, lugging a cart with chords and amplifiers in one hand and a guitar case in another, about to start his day of street performance. Street performers often feel like a part of the space they’re in, but they all have stories, quirks and lives of their own. We sat down with Roland and asked the questions you’ve (maybe) always had about a street performer.

Video: Empower Hour fosters welcoming workout environment

The Tufts Community Union Senate launched Empower Hour as a pilot program in the spring 2023 semester. Empower Hour aimed to create a safe space for female-identifying and nonbinary students to build confidence in the gym. Video journalists Nora Palkon and Sophi Schneider spoke to coaches and students about what the weekly program meant to them.

Video: Students housed at The Court discuss life in modular dorms

On April 8, Dean of Student Affairs Camille Lizarríbar announced that 150 first-year students would be living in temporary dormitories at 91, 93 and 95 Professors Row during the 2022–23 school year. Three modular buildings, each equipped with a laundry room, a common area, a kitchen and air conditioning, were transformed into The Court at Professors Row.

On Oct. 14, the Tufts Beelzebubs performed some of their greatest hits at an energetic a cappella concert live in the Tufts Daily newsroom. Members of the group then sat down with the Daily to discuss grappling with national recognition, building an inclusive culture and how they approach live performances — plus, where the Bubs get those iconic red pants.

On April 30, Tufts women's lacrosse triumphed over Trinity to advance to the NESCAC Championship Semifinals. After a season with many ebbs and flows, the Jumbos have now won six consecutive games. Video journalist (and varsity lacrosse player) Meg Hatton recently caught up with three of the team's senior leaders to look back on the season — and their four years at Tufts.
