3P'S Poster etiquette

To the Editor:

I am writing in response to the Daily article about stolen Stop Kiss posters ("Posters for lesbian-themed play stolen," 3/1). The only thing foul about the disappearance of Pen, Paint, and Pretzels`s (3P) posters for Stop Kiss, a lesbian-themed drama, is their poor poster design. University policy states that all posters must contain both group name and contact information. A second glance at their posters, still in Jackson Gym, indicated that theirs contained neither. I salute their resilience, though, in boosting tickets sales through their use of The Tufts Daily.

The 3P posters, though, contribute to the larger debate on campus about content. Stop Kiss's crass use of f-ck, for example, parallels the use of scantily clad woman in fraternity rush posters. The issue is most relevant now as perspective students swamp the campus for tours. Are these posters appropriate for public use? This topic will surely be taken up at eX College's Opening Up the Classroom, which is taking place Wednesday night. Such events are a constructive medium to further discussion on campus.
