Seven Questions | Brian Kumf

Full name: Brian Christopher Kumf

Nickname: Kumfy

Birth date: July 11, 1985

Zodiac sign: Cancer

Hometown: Milford, Mass

Favorite athlete: Kobe Bryant

Favorite Tufts athlete: Sophomore baseball player Matthew Malone

Take one look at sophomore basketball forward Brian Kumf and you know he settles for nothing less than perfection. Whether he is giving Delta Upsilon (DU) cook Larry the business about putting too much cheese in his eggs or singing rousing renditions of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," you know this kid's mama let him shoot b-ball (and well at that) outside of the school. But Kumf was the one up to no good.

I caught up with him in the Wilson House basement as he was stuffing Brian Casey into a dryer. Naturally, Seven Questions ensued.

1. So, your grandfather is Celtics great and current commentator Tommy Heinsohn. What does it take for him to give you Tommy points?

Tommy Points are not an easy thing to come by. It takes a lot for him to dish them out. I don't get them very often, but I think last year Malone would have racked up quite a few with his evening escapades. But not this year, he's a changed man folks; a nice guy.

2. You're 6'4" and I'm ...well, not 6'4". Think I could borrow some height?

No, I can't spare any height. Sorry. I don't think my girlfriend would talk to me anymore. But for those of you overly concerned with size, stay away from freshman small forward Ryan O'Keefe, if you catch my drift.

3. You live in Wilson House with sophomore baseball players Brian Casey and Matt Malone. Which one would you most like to vote off the roommate island?

I don't know if I would vote either of them off of the roommate island, but I would definitely vote Casey off of the top bunk. He likes to live his late night evenings vicariously through the actions of his roommates, and to tell you the truth, it's a little weird.

4. Speaking of Casey, the two of you are from the same hometown, Milford, Mass. Is it true that, like blondes, Scarlet Hawks have more fun?

Yeah, you know us Milford guys like to have a good time, Casey, Bobby Kenny, Jason Protano and myself included. But it's the ones from the wonderful city of Worcester that you have to watch out for, a.k.a. Kyle Backstrom.

5. You start at forward and last year you were the best freshman on the team. How have you kept your head from growing through the Cousens Gym rafters?

I don't let myself get carried away and plus, if I did, no matter how big my head got, it could never compare to Mr. Reggie Stovell's afro.

6. Any possibility of a sophomore slump?

Not a chance, but some may say that my friend and fellow teammate Dave Shepherd may be in a bit of a slump. But for those of you reading this, that is false, and one only has to look at his statistics to realize it. Lower the standards, raise the stats, baby!

7. LeBron or Carmelo. Who do you like, and whose is your game more like?

I definitely like Lebron more. But as far as whose game mine is more like, I would have to say my grandfather's. He's getting up there in age and with all the injuries I have, I play and feel like an old man.
