@boxtext: In choosing a career path, Schwartz said that she initially had little idea of how to make a career out of her art. "I think one of the things that limited me was that with psychology, I had a vision of how to get there," she said. "I only knew one artist when I was young; I didn't have a model of how one became an artist."
Since then, Schwartz said she drew a lot of lessons from friends of hers who are artists, learning from them about the logistics of the art world. "It was a matter of how people lived as artists and structured their time," she said.
From her friends, who became mentors to her in her artistic endeavors, she "got a picture of how they disciplined themselves to produce work, get their work shown."
"That was very helpful to me," Schwartz said.<$>
