The Entertainment Board presented the Spring Comedy Show last night with Godfrey, who performed his standup routine in Cohen Auditorium. Godfrey, the son of Nigerian immigrants, found acclaim in his hometown of Chicago for his conversational style that often includes jokes about everyday activities like riding the subway or watching sports.
Largely considered one of the funniest rising comedians, Godfrey has been featured in a variety of movies, television shows and advertisements. He most recently appeared in "Phat Girlz" (2006), "The Cookout" (2004) and "Soul Plane" (2004). You may even recognize his cameo in "Zoolander" (2001). He landed his breakthrough role in the 2002 7 UP advertising campaign, as the pop culture icon, "the 7 UP guy."
The show opened with Tufts' junior Jay Singh as well as Paul Nardizzi, who both regularly perform in the Boston comedy scene. Nardizzi has appeared several times on the Conan O'Brien Show and Comedy Central. He won the Boston Comedy Festival Competition in 2001 and released two CDs, including the interestingly titled "Sucking a Cow's Udder during a Solar Eclipse." He also keeps busy by writing books about comedy, such as "602 Reasons to Be Pissed Off" and "602 Reasons to Be Ticked Off."
