Ah, fall: the smell of newsprint and ego, the valiant charge of Tufts' sports teams out on fields across New England, and, yes, the return of Editors' Challenge. A truly wonderful time to be a member of the Daily Sports Department.
After a thrilling race that went down to the wire in '06, the Daily's NFL"experts" are back and ready for '07, and this time, we're actually here for the whole season. We're not going to randomly forget to pick a week. Probably. But all bets are off on Homecoming. And Thanksgiving -- that's tricky. And Veterans' Day.
Five rookies take their first tentative steps in a brave new world. Carly "Rerun" Helfand, Ethan Landy-"Before-Time," Ross "KG is a QT" Marrinson, Sapna "Spice Rack" Bansil and Tim "Tebow" Judson all make their EC debut...perhaps with a touch of the prophet?
A few department alums are hoping experience makes up for actual talent (insert your favorite Julian Tavarez joke here). Rachel "Wait, I'm not in charge anymore?" Dolin and Evans "Wait, I'M in charge?" Clinchy go head-to-head with the departures of Tom "Read my blog from Egypt!" Eager and Kelley "Now Walkin' in a Parisian" Vendeland.
Everyone will be chasing consensus favorites Alex "Respect my Authorit-ay" Bloom and Liz "Ben Hoffman's Sister" Hoffman. The Sports alums and newly-minted Managing Editors are hoping that their title bump comes with an actual title, one that people, you know, respect. Failing that, they'll just change the records before the paper goes to press. Editor-in-Chief Kelly "Special K" Rizzetta offers her guest picks.
