The new Interfaith Center will be officially dedicated at a ceremony that will take place today from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
At the event, student religious organization heads will be introduced and University Chaplain David O'Leary and Vice President of University Relations Mary Jeka will offer remarks.
Jeka will be standing in for University President Lawrence Bacow, who was originally scheduled to speak but will be out of town.
Most of the time today will be set aside for letting people tour the new facilities, and Jeka and O'Leary expect that visitors will be impressed by what they see.
Jeka has only seen the outside of the building, but said it looks "really lovely."
"I think it's obviously a vast improvement," she said.
While the building has been open for use for a few weeks, there are still some punch-list tasks that remain to be completed.
O'Leary said, for example, that some lights have yet to arrive.
"Those still need to come in, but everyone's using the building," he said.
The building is currently open from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Student groups wishing to use it on weekends can rent it out. A two-hour block costs $150.
O'Leary said that these limited hours will remain in place for the foreseeable future, but may be extended "if there's enough call for it."
