Reckless driver found in possession of marijuana
Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) officers spotted a vehicle driving up the wrong side of Packard Ave. on Sept. 20 at 10:30 p.m. After stopping the vehicle, the officers detected the smell of marijuana.
The driver stated he had smoked a joint earlier in the day, and officers found a plastic bag of marijuana in the car.
The driver, who was not a student, was then placed under arrest for possession of marijuana, a marked-lanes violation, driving without a license, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
Xbox stolen, but security device saves laptop
A student reported the theft of an Xbox on Sept. 21 at 10:30 p.m. The item was taken from an unlocked dorm room. There had also been an attempt to steal the student's laptop. "All of the wires were unplugged," TUPD Sgt. Robert McCarthy said, but the laptop could not be removed due to a security device.
Response to alarm reveals alcohol in Wren room
On Sept. 21 at 2:51 a.m., TUPD officers responded to a smoke alarm signal from an individual room in Wren Hall. After the officers knocked on the door to no answer, they entered the room and saw a group of students. The officers found and confiscated 1.75 liters of Absolut vodka, a bottle of champagne, a bottle of Bacardi rum and some beer.
Missing sewer drain leaves hole in Hill Hall parking lot
TUPD officers noticed that the sewer drain had been removed from the Hill Hall parking lot Sept. 23 sometime before 2:15 a.m. "There was basically a big hole in the ground," McCarthy said. "That can be very dangerous." A truck was placed over the hole for the duration of the night until the drain could be replaced.
