The Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate selected senior Harsha Dronamraju, sophomore Adam Kornetsky and senior Brittany Sommer as trustee representatives during a meeting that began last night at 7:00 p.m. and did not end until 12:45 this morning.
Dronamraju will serve on the university advancement committee, Kornetsky will serve on the administration and finance committee and Sommer will serve on the academic affairs committee of Tufts' Board of Trustees.
The meeting began with interviews with the applicants. Last week, the Daily reported that 28 students officially expressed interest in serving as a trustee representative during the hours after the three positions were advertised. That number eventually grew to 48, but only 16 decided to go before the Senate.
TCU Historian Alex Pryor said she was happy with the caliber of the applicants. "The candidates were very impressive," she said. "It was very competitive, but I think we chose good people."
While all the applicants were qualified, she said she feels the Senate was still able to discern the right people for the right jobs.
"In the end, they ended up falling into the positions pretty easily," Pryor said.
